The National Religious Retirement Office assists religious communities with retirement needs through its grants; through assistance services that include workshops, seminars; and coordination of a volunteer network of consultants trained in strategic planning, eldercare, and communication; and through sponsorship of a national annual appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious.
Since the first Retirement Fund for Religious appeal was conducted by the National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) in 1988, more than $500 million has been distributed in grants to religious communities in the United States. In 2006, NRRO awarded $23 million in Basic Grants to 515 religious communities or an average $607 for every member of a Catholic religious community who is age 70 or older.
